FosterEd is a project of the National Center for Youth Law and is based in several locations across the western US. FosterEd ensures equitable opportunities to support youth involved in the foster care system and provide them with the resources they need to succeed in school.
I consulted on this project as a freelance web editor, after leaving my part-time role at the National Center for Youth Law. The site was built from the ground up using Wordpress, with custom design elements using HTML and CSS. I was not responsible for the content or organization of the site.
Development & Online Communications Coordinator at SFCASA
I proposed and later spearheaded a complete redesign and reorganization of SFCASA's website. The site was built on Squarespace.
The three-month long process involved rewriting and restructuring our content, adding smart meta data tags and keywords for SEO, reimagining our branding strategy, developing a blog and generating original content, and supporting the development of a secure donations page. We also added a new section of our site specifically for volunteers, so they can access the information they need quickly and easily.
In the year since the new site launch, site traffic has grown by 110%
Web Editor at Teen Health Law.org
Teen Health Law.org is a project of the National Center for Youth Law in Oakland, CA. The website was designed to educate healthcare professionals in California about the health related legal rights of their teenage clients.
We wanted to update the look and feel of the site while maintaining our robust resources. This project required thoughtful planning and re-organization to meet the needs of our audience without overwhelming them.
The new design, built on Wordpress from the ground up, improves ease of access and user experience significantly compared to the prior version of the site, which hadn't been updated since the early 2000s. We also implemented smart SEO strategies to improve search outcomes for each new page. In the first two months after the site launched, site traffic increased by 130%.
Web Editor at Teen Health Rights.org
Teen Health Rights.org is the National Center for Youth Law's counterpart to Teen Health Law. This site serve the needs of young people in California directly, providing teens with a comprehensive guide regarding their legal rights to sexual and reproductive healthcare and information.
Like Teen Health Law, this site has incredibly robust content. I heavily reorganized the structure and placement of our content so that it fit better into our overall content strategy. Creating new topic areas also helped us compartmentalize the content into easily digestible chunks.
I am also responsible for recruiting writers and editing their work for the Youth Voices blog. I did not assist with the design of the site.
Web Manager at Music & More
Music & More is a personal project built from scratch on Squarespace. I worked closely with my piano teacher and friend, Tatjana Rankovich, to design the site for her nonprofit concert series. We wanted to convey the story of each artist performing with the series, while also maintaining cohesive branding throughout the site to tie each act together.
